I am a 28-year-old software/web developer and I live in Kentwood, MI with my wife, two cats and a snake. In the past year, I lost 46 pounds by changing my diet and exercising regularly at the gym with my brother. When he moved to Arizona recently, I dropped my gym membership and bought P90x which is why you may notice that I look incredibly sore all the time.
I love craft beer – especially beer that is brewed in Michigan. We have the greatest microbreweries in the country, hands down. Some of my favorites are Bell’s, Founders, Right Brain, Short’s, and New Holland. My favorite beer must be Bell’s Hopslam. Since I don’t drink that one regularly, Two Hearted Ale is a close second. Earlier this year, I became a home brewer and I made an IPA that was well-received by my family.
Politically, I am a libertarian and I am the former webmaster of the Libertarian Party of West Michigan. During that time, I created the websites for nearly all the Libertarian candidates in the State of Michigan for the 2010 election. It was a tough, but rewarding experience when I saw how much traffic the websites received in the weeks leading up to the election. Libertarianism may not yet be mainstream, but it is a growing philosophy as more Americans are becoming dissatisfied with the two major political parties.
Being a computer geek, I enjoy a lot of the same geeky interests that other computer geeks like. I am a huge science-fiction fan. I especially love the Star Wars movies and books. Some of my favorite authors include Ray Bradbury, Orson Scott Card and Isaac Asimov. I also love comic books. My favorites include Amazing Spider-Man and the many GI JOE series published by IDW.
I dream of one day starting my own business but as many of my friend will tell you, I can never settle on one idea. I’ve had a thousand ideas for start-ups in the last three years and I can never seem to find one that I’d like to stick with! I know when the right idea comes along, I’ll be ready.
